It is very important to consider the tax implications associated with divorce. A spouse going through a divorce should consult with a tax attorney and/or accountant to be sure that the choices being made are as tax advantageous as possible. It is also very wise to review IRS Publication 504 which contains specific tax provisions applicable to divorce. IRS Publication 504 is attached hereto.
