"Dedication and Perseverance"
Originally from Vancouver, WA, Stockton D. Pendergast attended the University of Washington in Seattle, WA and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a Minor in Law, Societies, & Justice in 2015. Stockton attended the University of Washington as a Chick Evans Memorial Scholar, receiving a full ride scholarship. Prior to attending law school, Stockton volunteered as a curriculum development assistant and youth outreach speaker for the Books to Prisoners Organization. Stockton graduated from the Seattle University School of Law in 2020. While at Seattle University, Stockton served as a Vice President of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board.
Stockton began working at TLC in 2016 as a member of the firm’s support staff. Through perseverance, tenacity, and support, Stockton joined TLC as an associate attorney in 2020. Stockton has previous experience in practicing family law, criminal defense, and juvenile criminal defense. While at Seattle University, Stockton participated in the Youth Advocacy Clinic, serving juvenile defense clients in King County Superior Court. Stockton also took extensive courses in criminal defense, trial advocacy, and expert witnesses.
Stockton is also a member of the Tulalip Tribal Court Bar. Stockton understands the cultural, personal, and historical complexities that come with representing Indigenous persons and communities, both inside and outside of Tribal Court. Stockton recognizes that representation of Indigenous persons goes far beyond just the immediate issues facing the client and often involves addressing and implementing solutions that are holistic, community focused, and intent on creating a positive future.
Stockton has a primary focus on criminal defense and family law. Stockton believes that law never intersects neatly with a person’s life. People’s legal issues are often complex and require comprehensive representation for several different problems occurring simultaneously. Civil litigation issues often can create situations where criminal repercussions are created, and vice versa. Stockton understands the necessities and requirements of balancing the many tiered solutions needed to solve complex intersectional legal problems in a way that is beneficial to the client, allowing them to build toward the future.
When Stockton is not working with clients or in court, he is cooking, traveling, or spending time with his family, dogs, and tortoise.
